Sen. Senate Booker's hysterical Spartacus moment
September 7, 2018
Cory Booker goes full drama queen with 'I am Spartacus' moment By Thomas Lifson AMERICAN THINKER Senator Cory Booker had already scripted what he hoped would be his break-out moment in yesterday's confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, so he wasn't going to let facts get in the way of TV exposure. He portrayed himself as risking martyrdom in the cause of...I suppose he would say "transparency." He would risk expulsion from the Senate by releasing confidential emails sent by Judge Kavanaugh, insinuating that damaging material would go unread but for his courage. The only problem: The emails had already been reviewed and released, and he knew it. Shannon Bream of Fox News: The New Jersey Democrat vowed to sacrifice his seat and even compared himself to Spartacus during Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, so important did he deem the 16-year-old emails from Kavanaugh discussing post-9/11 racial profiling as a White House lawyer. Booker pronounced the move an act of "civil disobedience" and said he was ready to face punishment, including the loss of his Senate seat. "This is about the closest I'll probably ever have in my life to an 'I am Spartacus' moment," he said. Shortly after 1 p.m., it was announced that the restrictions on releasing the emails, which had been labeled "committee confidential," had been waived in the morning. Nothing that Booker released was marked "committee confidential" at the time of its release. read more Democrats' Kavanaugh Tantrums Are An Embarrassment
9/04/2018 INVESTOR'S BUISINESS DAILY Grandstanding: Any doubt that Democrats are desperate to stall Judge Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court ended Tuesday, when they made a mockery of the confirmation hearings. This was nothing more than — bad — political theater. In the first 40 minutes of Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination hearing, Democrats interrupted the Senate Judiciary Committee proceedings 44 times. That's to say nothing of the protesters who alternately shrieked and cheered. It was all well planned. "Democrats plotted coordinated protest strategy over the holiday weekend and all agreed to disrupt and protest the hearing, sources tell me," NBC News' Kasie Hunt tweeted Tuesday morning. The current excuse for the Democrats' push to delay the Kavanaugh hearings is the last-minute release of 42,000 pages of documents from former President Bush's lawyer. Keep in mind that those are on top of the 415,000 pages Bush's legal team had already sent over to the committee. And that all of them relate to the two years that Kavanaugh worked in the Bush White House Counsel's Office and three years as staff secretary. Nevertheless, before Chairman Chuck Grassley could get a sentence out, Senator Kamala Harris demanded that the hearings be postponed. read more Whiskey PoliticsEp. 139 – Kevin D.
