The art of hanging loose and riding the perfect wave
Blue Wave at Ebb Tide For Calif. Dems By Dwight L. Schwab Jr. Thursday, 07 June 2018 NEWSMAX hare Deep blue California may ironically be the deciding factor in how the midterm elections turn out for the Democrats. Tuesday’s primary in the state tells volumes about the Democrats chances and their very future as a viable political party. For the party to return to any sort of power position in Washington, D.C. they need to regain the majority in the U.S. House. If they fail, their dream of impeaching the president is gone as well as their own future. From the primary results in California, it seems likely the Democrats are further than ever from capturing the House. Their opportunity to seize the majority includes seven districts in California that sent a Republican to Congress in 2016 but voted for Hillary. The deep blue state enjoys a system that selects the top two qualifiers for the general election ballot by most votes garnered. That is, regardless of the party, the two top candidates move on. That is a clear advantage for the Democrats who sport four registered voters to every one registered Republican. To the misfortune of Democrats in this, the year of the Trump, their loaded scheme didn’t work out. Now they must live with the results. The total primary vote for all Republicans versus the total primary vote for all Democrats has almost always been within a couple points of the November result. The general rule is if one party wins a majority of the total vote in the primary, it will take the seats in November. From the results of Tuesday’s primary in California, that doesn’t fare well for the Democrats. Remember the seven districts mentioned above? The 10th District, won by a Republican but voted for Hillary in 2016, won a combined total of 52 percent of the vote. In the 21st District with the same scenario as the 10th District, the Republican took 63 percent of the primary vote. The trend continues with the 25th District. Republicans won 53 percent of the primary vote on Tuesday. In the 39th District the Republican outpolled all other candidates. The 45th District saw the Republican garner 53 percent of the vote. In the 48th District, 52 percent for the Republican. Lastly, the 49th District Democrats did get a higher majority at 50.8 percent, but the Republican is in a margin of error at 48 percent of the vote. The statistics are staggering for Democratic strategists and their "blue wave" theory. California voters are rejecting the Democratic mantra of tax hikes, protecting sanctuary cities, and the hyper-partisan and baseless impeachment witch hunt. With the most electoral votes in the nation, the message is loud and clear. It appears to be a rising red tide in a very blue ocean. The Democrats cannot count on California to hand them the House. For that matter, the state electorate made the gubernatorial race in November between a far left liberal and a Trump-backed conservative. The winds of political change in the Trump era are clear. The president knows it and tweaks his nose at liberals and their allies in the media constantly. California is the primary indicator of that trend. If the Democrats are going to take back the House, which now appears unlikely, it will be in swing states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and New York. The Democrats appear to be at the mercy of what the Russian collusion investigation may produce. The votes they need will not come from the robust economy, low unemployment or possible peace on the Korean peninsula. President Trump and the Republicans in Congress understand this and are focused like a laser beam on continuing the unprecedented progress that's been made. It appears that economic growth, job creation, border security, and peace through strength abroad is impeding any message the Democrats wish to send other than their hatred of Donald Trump. read more
